You don't need a specialized survey to tell you, use your
own common sense.
The Campaign for Progress would like for you to believe that by voting wet, you will have more dining choices. We disagree. WHY? It's just common sense. If you had a struggling restaurant/tourist business, would
you invite more competition to your community? It appears that's what the
'Campaign for Progress' is doing. You have been led to believe that Harrodsburg is the city of choice! They actually know the
truth about new restaurant/bars. These restaurant/bars aren't even in some of the larger wet counties.
Where do restaurant/bars like Red Lobster 407-245-5192; O'Charley's 615-256-8500, and Applebee's 913-967-4000 locate?
Call for yourself! It's
just common sense. Do restaurants really have to serve alcohol to provide food of good quality and the service you seek?
For example, look at the recent opening of Cracker Barrel in nearby Danville. This
restaurant features good quality food, attentive service and the majority of the time there is at least a one-hour waiting period.
You don't have to serve alcohol to have good restaurants. It's just common sense. The Campaign for Progress would like for you to believe that voting wet will be profitable for your
community. We disagree. WHY? It's just common sense. Would you and your community benefit from the so-called local 'increased tax revenue' that is supposed to help our economy?
NO! The KRS STATUTE 243.075 states that: The regulatory license fee may be
levied at a percentage rate as shall be reasonably estimated to reimburse the local government for the estimated costs of
any additional policing, regulatory, or administrative expenses related to the sale of alcoholic beverages in the city and county.
The revenue collected is only an attempt to reimburse the city and county for the loss of tax dollars related to the
sale of alcoholic beverages. If there are no adverse affects from the sale of
alcohol, why would the provision for additional policing even be needed! It's just common sense. Do tourists cancel their visits to Shakertown, Fort Harrod, and other Mercer Co. Landmarks just
because they can't get a drink? NO!! For
example: If you planned a trip to historic Gettysburg and discover that alcohol is not served there, would you cancel your trip?
NO!! Your desire to experience history is the basis for your visit. 'Harrods
Town' was the first permanent English settlement west of the Allegheny Mountains. Just
like there is only one Gettysburg, there is only one Harrodsburg, KY. It's just common sense. The Campaign for Progress wants you to believe that YOUR economy will be better just because they might have the ability to increase their bottom line. The Campaign for Progress wants you to believe that by bringing the number one drug in America to Mercer County, the community will benefit. THEY ARE WRONG ! This county belongs to everyone, not just to a few individuals who believe that alcohol will solve
all their problems. This 'campaign for profit' that advocates the consumption of
whiskey, beer and wine, is in essence endorsing the negative affects of alcohol: drunk
driving, alcoholism etc. Ultimately this will have a negative effect on your
lifestyle, your safety, your community, your family and your life.
You have everything to lose and nothing to gain.
Is that progress? Use your own common sense. VOTE NO TO RESTAURANT/BARS!! |
